I recently attempted to overcharge my prehistoric AMDK6-2 400. I changed only the jumpers to 500mhz. Started it up. The motherboard then started to make a continues beep. tryed to power off, it wouldnt. Had to unplug the pile of crap from the wall. I then put the jumpers back to 400mhz, cleared the CMOS. It would not boot up past the DMI Pool update! However,, it does show the BIOS status page (hard drives, memory, etc.) It just wont load after the DMI pool is shown. Will not go to load from Foppy or HD. Does anyone know if my CPU is just fried? How do I resolve this issue?

Thanks for your suggestions,

Pbernotis

Fried is fried!
Partial post means it's not fried! probably just messed up!
Did you set everything back to "load failsafe defaults" in the bios, after you cleared the cmos? Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!
