hello folks ive got a compaq f730us notebook with builtin wifi that has been working fine up till about 2 weeks ago when the wifi went out ill try to be descriptive here as every little bit helps right , but dont blame me for being long winded lol , ok this unit had vista on it which i didnt like and have since switched back to xp and im typing this on the laptop as we speak with the wifi working , problem is when i reboot it wifi is gone and the broadcom wifi adapter isnt even listed in the device manager but if i go into control panel then add/remove programs then add/remove windows components and uncheck networking services then restart in safe mode and go back into add/remove windows components and recheck networking services and restart then it works and the broad com device is then detected in the device manager up untill the next reboot then i have to go thru the whole process again , though i have been to compaqs website and talked to them on the phone they suggested replacing the wifi card but i dont think thats the problem as i said its working right now , so any any suggestions would be very helpful

I take it you have searched around for XP drivers for your wireless card?

Is Windows managing your wireless or is it some third party software involved?

Are there any errors in the Event Viewer?

If you check in Services while the wireless connection is missing are there any relevant services that are not marked as Started even though the startup type is shown as Automatic?

To re-install the wireless zero configuration service under XP, see:
