Why pdf file attachment become junk code for certain mail accounts?

Hi, All
In my program, I attached a pdf file to an email and send to customer. It works fine for yahoo.com, certain commercial accounts. The pdf file can be opened without any problem. But when I send out to hotmail.com and gmail.com accounts, the pdf file become a junk, look like a binary code within the email(the text email part looks OK, just the pdf file). I used CDONTS component in my asp program. Is there anything I didn't set up specifically when I attached the pdf file? Please help!

first thing i can think of is improperly attached.

Or hotmail / gmail may not like the email encoding, may want to try the same tactics with CDOSYS instead of CDONTS.. other than that i'm at a loss as well.
