I don't want this to start a war, but I am having a hard time justifying the continual development with Crystal. Background: I have a financial reports web site on our intranet that about 400 users will be accessing. I have to serve up reports based on security levels and filter data. Most reports return about 12000 records from an Oracle DB each time.
I have had nothing but problems with the ASP/COM solution that Crystal provides with continual crashes. (So far it is pretty stable)
Having been a Cold Fusion developer for about 4 years and using ASP for about a year, I can see no inherent benefit on using Crystal over a straight ASP or CF solution. The only thing that I see that it buys me is paging, which I have created before in Cold Fusion.
Again, I am not trying to raise the ire in people here, I really want some good opinions on why we should keep Crystal.
Thanks!
Tim P.
