why is quicktime best. especially for embedded stuff

Hi Folks. I need an expert on video for trickey question!

I am using 'embedded' quicktime in my site. its a no go back situation but i REALLY need to know why quicktime is best for the following....

- showing video on the web
- accessability (for disability etc ... yes i am currently using captions)
- quality
- file size etc
- controlling quicktime with programming languages and markup languages

and just generally why it is better than the rest (real player, window media player).

heres what i do know

- embedded quicktime can be controlled by the keyboard unlike the others
- speech web browser JAWS pretty much ignores quicktime (which is annoying)
- captioning cannot be switched on and off unlike the other players(which is also annoying)

i have scowered the web for an objective opinion on quicktime but to no avail

is there a GURU out there that can spell it out for me

WHY USE QUICKTIME ?

Quicktime has had a longer presence as a viable format to use on the WEB.
The compression tools for QT mov files have been around longer and provide the best quality for smaller file sizes.
Quicktime was one of the first to introduce streaming video.

Quicktime is also not tied into your operating system, as with WMP files (ASF/WMV), which can cause problems in playing or download "questionable" formats (there have been many documented security bugs with WMP on computers)

Real Video has always been a 3rd runner up in the race, and sadly (or gladly) they are losing the war. Flash is slowly becoming a good replacement for RV (FLV formats)

my big issue is that i cannot control embedded quick time from my keyboard. i heard that SPACE and ENTER and the ARROW keys give you control but it wont work on my stuff OR on other sites. eg Apple trilers. As you might expect keyboard control is vital for accessability.

is there a plugin that make these controls available for embedded quicktime??
