Why is my w2k server showing SIDS in ACL?

I am connected to a w2k AD domain, using a w2k sp3 server. On my files/folders, I see SIDS in the ACL (permissions) for users and groups. Sometimes I see the name, sometimes I see the SID, sometimes I see a few of each. Most times, SIDS do not resolve to names. These are all ACTIVE accounts. I can add a new user to the ACL, and see the name for a few mintes, then it turns into a SID. We have our own DC at this site, so it is not a slow link issue, and this occurs on USERS as well as GROUPS.

We moved this server from a NT domain, but the actual groups & accounts were on the same domain they are now. They have never been moved (even new accounts act the same way). Any ideas?
