Hello all,

I am a newbie so take it easy on me. I installed a stick of 256MB pc133 Kingston ram in an old Sony Vaio PCV130 and instead of showin up as 256MB it showed 128MB in bios. Do you have any suggestions as to why this is occuring. this is an old pc that has 200Mhz Processor and only two memory slots.

It is a compatibility issue, newer modules have fewer chips so the value of each of those chips is higher (higher density) that together with newer fabrication processes means your motherboard simply cannot read it properly.
Many users in this situation use a service from online memory vendors "Crucial" who gaurantee compatibility.
