I have been building up test senarios in a lab and using a nt4 server and win2000 server for various upgrade, migration strategies.

To get a usuable NT4 server I have been building a bdc on the live network and when synchronized I take offline and change to pdc so that I can either upgrade or migrate accounts etc into a windows 2000 domain.

The synchronization takes 3-4 days to complete for approx 500 users and 500 computers. Is this normall? The event viewer gives around 50-75 messages a minute (5711 - Partial synchronization completed sucessfully)

Is there a quicker way to do this??

It does sond as if it's taking longer than it should.

What auditing level is enabled ?
How much disk space are you replicating / syncronising ?
Is the bottleneck within the NT end or W2000 end ?
Make sure the network connections to ALL PC's are either:
10/half or 100/full
