why is grouping slices into table beneficial?

I am trying to figure out what is best.. fireworks or image ready for slicing and dicing?

also how is the grouping slices into a table a good thing?

newbie to IR

I have no experience of Fireworks so can't do a comparison.
Grouping slices into a table allows you to place the optimised result straight into a web page.
