I just installed Office XP...I save a payroll file as *csv...Excel is putting the numbers in text format which drops the last decimal off any numbers that end in zero. I must have 2 decimals to import into the bank transfer program...this was not a problem last week when I was using Excel 2000...what setting am I missing?

Thanks...
Dave

Format the Cells to either Number or accounting and it should take care of the problem..

Wray...I should have mentioned that I had already done that...that is why I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.

How is the data being put into the Excel spreadsheet? Is it being entered manually or inported from another database program?

The "numbers" are probably text that LOOKS like numbers. If this is the case then formatting alone will not do the job
You can test this by using
=ISNUMBER(A1) wher A1 contains some data that is coming out as text in your csv file. A TRUE answer means that it is a number. A FALSe answer means it is actually text
If this is the case then you can use the "x1" fix

Enter a 1 into a blank cell and select it
Edit>Copy
Select all your cells that are coming out as text
Edit>Paste Special select MULTIPLY
et voila
They should now be numbers.

Remember
formatting is only a mask to show the true value in a different way
