Why is AP 6. Title feature so awful

I can't believe how awful the title feature is in AP 6. Adobe has such great products in Photoshop, Illustrator, etc, how did they miss the boat with AP?

Can't afford 6.5 right now. However, I own Photoshop 7. Should I just make all my titles in Photoshop and forget about AP's altogether?

I ask this question because I find AP's Titling so non-intuitive.

Adobe Premiere's titling has alwasy been subpar. I do all of my titling in After Effects now.....

Cheap way is doing it in Flash and/or Photoshop, which I do since its easier.
