Hi!

I've just installed a new slave HD in my pc but for some reason I can not see it with the windows explorer. Strangely enough, I can see on the list of installed devices and the bios seems to be able to detect it without problems.

Some details:

OS: XP.
On the bios screen I get this info about the HD: type=AUTO, size=X (the right size).
product name: ExcelStor technology ATA/SATA hard drive.

What can I do?

TIA

PS I don't know much about hardware.

I've just installed a new slave HD.... If it is brand new, then it probably needs partitioning and formatting.

Right click on My Computer, click on Manage, double click Disk Management, and check the righthand lower pane to see what it tells you about your drive.

Right clicking on the relevant drive will offer you a menu to partition and then format. Double check you're selecting the correct drive before embarking on a partition and format...

Thanks, it worked. I thought XP did this kind stuff automatically...I expected some sort of a message, at least.
