Why HyperX memory

Memory like HyperX, OCZ, Mushkin, Crucial Ballistix etc use higher quality/faster memory modules that can automatically run at tighter timings and faster clock speeds when compared to normal value ram.

Tigher timings and the ability to be overclocked and still remain stable, mean these modules will increase systems performance.

These modules are specifically designed for high performance and so are ideally suited for cutting edge technology where every bit of extra performance is needed and when you want a high performance system to run at it's optimum.

Whilst associated heavily with the overclocking fraternity these modules also bring performance gains for the normal power user.

I certainly wouldn't consider them as mainstream but as part of a high end build they are the best option for overall performance.

Some sellective adjustments may be necessary to get the best from these products, although most will run at default memory settings that would kind of be pointless.

What specs are you referring to?

HyperX is just one example of one company's highest performer in terms of overclockability and latency timings. When you read specs, normally you see the overall CAS latency rating which is either 2, 2.5, or 3. But there are much, much more detailed timings that make a world of difference in overall performance, especially when overclocking.

If you don't care for absolute top-notch performance, then there's no need to go with the most expensive version. At stock speeds, you probably won't notice the advantage.

OCZ Premier (middle-end) Memory has timings of "2.5-3-3-7". No idea what it means, but for £35 per 512MB, I assume it's not bad :)

DragonQ0105
OCZ Gold PC3200 2-2-2-5 1T ((CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS) now thats what you call low ltencey! and at just 2.8volts which is within most boards parameters, not that expensive and fitted with the legandary Winbond BH5 chips.
