why don't the images preload?

Hi all,
I'm an artist who is trying to improve my website, by making the virtual gallery experience more userfriendly. I've just added some script to show each thumbnail large within the same page, but the larger images take some time to download. So I've added a preload script, but it doesn't seem to work. Please look at:

Since I am not a programmer, it's a bit tricky to figure out where I'm going wrong... any help would be greatly appreciated,

well it seems to work fine for me, the first image will take time to come...

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull

Hi vbchris,
thanks for your message. Really, it works? In my browser, even after 10minutes if I hover over a previously unhovered image, it is not loaded... perhaps it's my firewall stopping the script?
But thank you for taking the time to check it out and letting me know it is working!
