I had to rebuild my DC server. Before on the workstation I was able to choose the option for "obtain dns server automatically". But now I have to manually enter the dc server's ip address there or I am unable to connect to the domain. Is there something I am missing or setup wrong?

Sounds like you havent config'd the DHCP Options to include giving out the DNS Servers IP address.

Admin Tools > DHCP > select server > Scope > Scope Options > Right Mouse Click > Configure Options

Sorry should have mentioned I am using my sonicwall soho3 to perform the DHCP services.

Not familiar with that, but have you configured the DHCP within that to provide the DNS server to clients?

I'm Certifiable, not certified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.
