why can't the administrator share

I am attempting so support a multi os network. we have 2 xp pro machines. I can see all the other computers on the network just fine...but I cannot share a folder. I created a new folder..tried to turn sharing on and everything is grayed out even though I am logged on as administrator. anyone have any ideas?

goto to your lan connection ,right click then left click properties and make sure that you have file and printing check
