why are my jobs getting queued in the middle?

Running out of tape space or you have the job set to append/overwrite and its appending to data already on tape and running out of space and prompting for a second tape.
Have you looked in the job monitor and looked at the byte count...has it progressively gotten larger...maybe you tapes are getting full.
