Why are derived measures double-counted in my report?

I have a slight problem with a report

The report comprises 3 dimensions and 3 measures, 2 of which (Serious and Non-Serious)are derived from other values in the report.

Country State Town Total Serious Non-Serious

USA NY NYC 6 6 6

The problem i have is the count for serious/non-serious should be 3 each making a total of 6(the correct sum of the total) but somehow it seems to be double-counting the values for serious and non-serious.

The report works fine if for instance i bring in the individual cases but then the total would always be 1 which is not what the requirement is!. Has anyone got any suggestions why this is happening?

Could be aggregating due to repeated instances of the town or state in country. Have you tried bringing the values into the report via a secound query and linking them by Town?

If I had to guess, you have a fan trap in your database.

We can't possible debug this without seeing your universe or your SQL code.
