We have a CM 6.3. Today we got a complaint from one of our business units that their Vector Auto Attendant was not working. Found out that their announcement has been recorded over. In the past when an announcement was recorded we would see this entry in our history log
5/23 11:50 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 87029 EXT 13947
Showing that extension 13947 recorded announcement 87029.

Now we only see this in the history log
2/05 12:21 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 88700
We have no idea who recorded announcement 88700

Any idea how to get back the data of which extension recorded the announcement?

list history will still show the last log in time and date as well as the logged in user, maybe that will help. Also remove any console permissions that are not needed.

It should be in your list history. It could be that the logging has been overwritten.
Also you can check change logging-levels to see what kind of logging is written to the history log

Our history log shows

Date Time Port Login Actn Object Qualifier

2/05 12:21 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 88700
2/05 12:17 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 88700
2/05 10:58 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 88703
2/05 10:58 PHONE annc del recorded-ann 88703
2/05 10:57 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 88703
2/05 10:56 PHONE annc del recorded-ann 88703
2/05 10:55 PHONE annc add recorded-ann 88702
2/05 10:54 PHONE annc del recorded-ann 88702
2/05 10:39 PHONE annc cha recorded-ann 88700

The extensions shown are our announcement extensions. Where would I look to see what our logging level is?

Check for stations that have Console Permissions included in their Class od Service (COS). It may not point out the individual extension that made the change, but it may help to narrow it down. Do 'disp cos' to see which has Console Permissions. Then do 'list extension-type cos x' to find all of the extensions with that COS.

long shot but after finding the stations with said COS as per Kevin above ,you can then check the phones call history (either from the phone or from a backup .txt file if you are indeed backing up to a http server.)and find out who dialed the extension in question.

Thanks for the COS suggestions. However we have multiple remote offices connected back to our main system by gateways. Each office has been given the COS to be able to re-record their auto attendant greeting if necessary. This was not my choice to give all these people that COS, but here we are. Also, we don't do a backup of the telephone sets, again, not my choice.

I was hoping this would just be an issue of changing the setting on the logging details or something. Kind of stupid for Avaya to take this detail away from the history log, it used to show which extension recorded the announcement.
