Since Access file in multiuser enviroment is easily corrupted, back up is important. But the problem is:
1. When you back up file some one may be working on it(writing or updating data),if you back up at that time the data may lost.you can't asked all the users to close file, and then back up, it's too inconvinent, and you can't wait until every one off line .
2. There is some tools that can automatically back up file after a period of time, but if the file corrupted, the bad file will overwrite the good file. when you find the problem, the bad back up file can't help you recover your database.

if anyone know the efficient and effective way to back up file,Pls advise, thanks!

What we do is store our main data tables in a seperate database (we call this the backend) and the users have a database (the frontends) with links to the tables in the backend (linked tables). We have found that with this type of setup, we can easily create a backup copy of the main backend database without having to ask users to exit.

Our backup's are made to a different tape each day, and every Friday, one tape is taken off-site and a new tape introduced to the stream of daily tapes. This allows for the max. loss of only one days work if a backup gets corrupted, and a max. loss of one weeks worth of work should there be some disaster where we need to use an off-site tape backup.

Hope this helps! :)
