For those of you who don't knwo what i am talking about: For Windows 2003 servers, MS offers a feature called "Volume Shadow Copies". This basically is a server that creates shadow copies (snapshots) of a NTFS volume.

Remote clients can use this service and old the copies to retrieve previous file versions without any admin help. This works fine - i just installed it for test purposes. More details are available from Microsoft's knowledgebase.

My question: Does somebody know if and how NetWorker can cope with this feature?
- How can it backup these shadow copies?
- How can it retrieve them?
- How can it recreate the links fo previous file versions?

Hope somebody has done this already - any help is appreciated.

I have recently started using shadow copy feature on 2003 servers.
From what i see the destination ( where you store shadow copy) you dont even see any files via windows exporer, you can however see the disk space being used up.
However, i have not tried to restored the servers with VSS on ( only the VSS portion), i will do that in test enviroment and update here in next few days.
Meanwhile:
"VSS SYSTEM BOOT:
VSS SYSTEM FILESET:
VSS SYSTEM SERVICES:
VSS USER DATA:
VSS OTHER:
VSS ASR DISK:"
This are the saveset that need to be specified and\or recover if ALL is not used, it coud be VSS fileset save set, check admin guide pages 190-210 for more info.
