What I'm trying to do is find music files online to burn onto a cd, which can be played on old computers without mp3 capabilities. Which file formats will work on (anything?) old cd players. thanx

Hi

Convert MP3 to WAV and it should play in any cd player

Trevor

You could also burn them as a standard CD track, and they should be able to be played in any CD player.

Of course you'd be limited to about 15 to 20 songs per CD. as normal store bought music CD's have because unlike MP3 the trk format is uncompressed.

WAV's are also uncompressed.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

I agree with both of them just thought I would add something to it. There are a few cd players, very rare but they do exist, that will not play cd-r's at all. I have came across a few but not many. Just like vacunita said, burn any cd as an audio cd and it will play in 98 percent of cd players.

There is a point in wisdom and knowledge that when you reach it, you exceed what is considered possible - Jason Schoon

without mp3 capabilities" ????????
even wmplayer 6.4 will play mp3 with the propper codec, what specs does ur pc have?

Yes - I was wondering why you were looking for a file format to play on 'any computer', too.

I'm wondering if there is some confusion going on.
It's down to the software to play the files, not the hardware. As long as you have a soundcard of sorts, by installing something like Winamp, you can play all the common formats.

Or is there another reason for your request which needs further expanation?

Regards, Andy.
