I have a big table ( more than 50 0000 lignes and 185 rows). This table is store daily and i have to put then in our datawarehouse. I don't know which modele is the best way.

- A star schema, with 1 table of facts and 8 tables od dimensions.
- or 1 table od facts and 1 other table with all the dimensions.

These historical data have to be accessed easily and rapidly. We use business Objects.

If you have any idea, commentary or experience about this, tell me.

Thank a lot.

Erwan,
When you say that you have 8 tables of dimensions, does that mean that of your 185 columns 8 are dimensions and 177 are measures?

I don't see any good reason to put your dimension details in a single table, as this will have to be joined to multiple times. [sig]

<a href= home
[/sig]

In fact, i receive daily a table (185 colums and about 40000 lines). if i study this tables, 168 fields can be dimensions and only 17 fields are facts.
This is a snapshot of daily information, that means, some data have changed and some have not changed, (mainly facts change, dimensions are static or change very slowly).
As i want to keep the evolution, if i separate dimensions and facts, i only add a line of 17 fields instead of a line of 185 fields.
