I'm a C++ programmer, but a "complete novice" to Direct X.

I want to tinker with directx at home, what language do most people use to interface with Direct X?

Can anyone recommend a cheap but decent C++ compiler for home use?

Thanks for any replies

I have been using C++, and it's a pain compared to OGL. It's easier with C# and almost as fast, but I think there are a few things you can't do (yet) with C#. Don't use VB if you want to run at an acceptable frame rate. The vast majority of DX programmers are using C++.

Ok cheers for that.

Let the fun (?) commence!
