Hi all,

I downloaded and installed Oracle 10g Express Edition Beta2 successfully on a Win2k3 SBS machine.

On this machine, everything works fine. Managing, querying and so on.

Now, i need an oracle client on a separate computer in the same LAN. It's an XP Pro laptop, and needs to access the XE database.

Where is the client for this? It is obviously not included in the 150 mb download file of XE.

Thanks in advance,
mpegjunkie

I have found!

XE database is only 150 mb, but when you need a client with TNSNAMES access, you have to download the full client which is over 450 mb.

First, I couldn't believe it because the huge client in comparison to the small db. But we never stop learning... :)

mpeg,

I too was shocked at the 450 meg client. However, you should be aware of instant client, which is a significantly slimmed down version of the beastie. It has a much smaller footprint, so if you need a lot of installations, I'd recommend it.
