I have a Windows 2000 Server with a system partition drive of 4 GB's (C drive) and data drive (d drive) with 32 GB's. The C drive is only showing about 200 MB free. When i add up all the directories on my C drive i come up with about 1.5 GB's. My question is whats taking the other 2.5 GB's? I'm going to have some problems soon if i can't clear up some of this space. TIA.

Page file most likely, by default its in the root of C:\ as a hiden system file

I checked for the page file i don't see it. Yes i have my options set to show hidden files.

Have you unchecked hide protected system files?

You should move the pagefile to the 32 gb partition, but you should defrag it first.....

Paging file should be set to 1.5 times system memory. If you set min and max size the same it will improve performance.

I meant to say defrag the 32gb partition first .....
It sounded like I said to defrag the paging file (how silly of me......)

As i was writing the last reply i remembered about the "show system files" option and immediately checked my server to find the 2.5 GB pagefile. Thanks Vbrock you already answered one of my question which was what optimal size was. Now where are the settings for the pagefile in 2000?

Right click My Computer
Select Properties
Select Advanced Tab
Click on Performance Options Button
Click on Change Button
