I have 2 servers. I need to install some apps that use IIS. So which one do I install it on that'll be most secure.

The one that is the Domain Controller or the one that will be the Terminal Server?

Yes, not the DC. If you do the ISUR and IWAM accounts become domain accounts not local Accounts. These accounts are used for Anonymous Access to your web server, you don't want them to be used a Anonymous Access to your domain.

I see....so it should be a big deal to install them on the terminal server since it's pretty hefty itself.

I have one system I could use but it's a 400 mhz PII HP netserver with 512MB of RAM so I'm not sure if I want all those web apps running on it. I'm going to use it for a couple php apps I have so I'll install IIS,MYSQL, and PHP.

I'll install the rest like WSUS and Belmanage on the TS.

Thx

Unless that server is going to be handling thousands of requests per hour it should cope.

I ran a 200 user intranet (120 LAN + WAN users) on a PII 300 with 384Meg and a 20G IDE HD for around 2 years (needs must when your MD is an accountant) Never failed and only slowed down noticeably around 5 pm when everybody was closing their systems.

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?
Woo Hoo! the cobblers kids get new shoes.
People Counting Systems

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

This TS will only have at max about 8 users on it at one time and it's a 2.8 Xeon System with HT.

That's what I'll do then.

Is there any security issues with putting that stuff on your TS. If not I may go ahead and get the major bus app off a workstation I have it on and put it on the TS as well.
