I know that this area is for windows xp pro but i cannot find the boot.ini on my windows xp home computer. I even searched for it but i had no success. Can someone please tell me where it is?

It is a Hidden and System file in the root of your C Drive.

To see it you must show Hidden and show System files via Control Panel/ Folder Options/ View

Linney I can't find the file boot.ini. I type dir boot.ini /s and not found me any file.

Try checking your control panel, then go to Performance and Maintenance, then System. On the Advanced tab, there's an option to edit the Start Up and Recovery options..
Once there, there's a button to....'Edit the Startup Option file manually......' - This will open up the boot.ini file..

Enjoy..

You also have to untick the "Hide protected operating system files" box in this same dialog to let BOOT.INI appear in Explorer or the command prompt. I strongly recommend reapplying this setting after you have finished editing the file.

Start, Run, msconfig

The second tab provides a boot.ini editor.
