Hi all!

Back in the good old days I used to download RH Linux for free but nowadays you have to pay for it. I am looking for a free Linux OS in order to be able to experiment with it, etc. Where can I download one?

Thanks

Which distribution do you want?

RedHat, as well has selling RedHat Entrprise Linux, publishes Fedora, which is completely free:
There's which is currently offline. But that site has a large number of distributions available. I recommend to perform a Google search using the term [tt]linux iso[/tt]. That'll get you a lot of places with a lot of distributions' CD image files for you to burn to CD and install from.

The closest to RedHat you'll get I believe is CentOS, which is compiled from RedHat source code.

CentOS is a rebuild of RHEL. Fedora is RedHat's leading-edge product, probably more similar to RH8, RH9, etc.

As far as free Linux distributions, you could also look at OpenSUSE, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Mandriva, among others.
