I've got a tech onsite who's trying to load an IP Authorization code onto a BCM50 R5.0, and he keeps getting an error. He thinks perhaps it's because he doesn't have the latest version of Element Manager on his laptop, but when he tries to download/upgrade it he keeps getting a certificate error.

The tech is using Internet Explorer - should he try using Firefox/Chrome, etc? Or is there a specific site that he can get the latest version of Element Manager as a download? I've tried both the Nortel and Avaya sites (I hav logins for both) to no avail.

Any ideas?

If it is a new 5.o install there should be 2 cd's on site one of them has Element Manager on it he can load direct from there.

If you have auth code then you need to get it converted to a lic file using the nortel krs Keycode lic file. You then upload this file to your system.

The certificate error is normal. Just click continue to the website and proceed to download BEM.

Oldestgeek is right. Unfortunately I have done that before. He is clicking the green shield on the certificate page which is actually not allowing him to the web page. Click the red shield and he will get it no problem

Nortel site says "This content is no longer available on Tech support web site.

All Nortel Enterprise content has been moved to the Avaya site.

BCM Element Manager resides on BCM for download.
Open IE explorer on a workstation, type in the ip address of the BCM. like: 192.168.100.82
Naigation to BCM will be blocked, Continue to website
Click YES to the Security Warning
logon as guest if you need user apps
logon as nnadmin or other admin if you need to download administrator applications like BCM Element Manager

You can no longer download the EM from the BCM on the latest version and on newer releases of 5.0. The only option is to install a link and run from the server. This is how Avaya got around having to update EM for each new OS that is released. In theory, you should now be able to use any OS. I've tried Windows 7 on a BCM450 5.0 and it works like a charm. Much faster than actually installing on a PC. Hopefully technicians that need to connect to multiple sites will still be able to download from Avaya and install locally.

Thanks for clearing that up. Our system will be upgraded in January. What are the odds of it being bug free?
Call Center, Reporting,Multimedia,UM with FAX client xp and Windows 7?

I haven't experienced any issues on the upgrades and they seem to be pretty much error free. After upgrading and patching the system you'll need to download the latest clients for your application from the BCM. Also, make sure whoever does the upgrade, after upgrading and verifying that everything is working properly, installs the factory image on the BCM. That sounds scary but is an important step. If it isn't done and the system is cold-reset later for any reason, you'll lose your upgrade and your backups won't work.

Any experience with Contact Center, reporting, multimedia (web chat)? Basically... any worries?
Our Vendor is going to upgrade to BCM450 and activate the Purchased key codes for a full blown 6 agent intelligent contact center with Multimedia.
Seems to be more affordable on BCM450. Apparently they want more to get hooked.
