i need to save vid driver from the hd as the driver disk is gone, i cant find them to save them...where are they stored inside windows?

thanks

I wouldn't guarantee this get's all of them, but if you go to control panel, click 'system', 'device manager', find the display adapter and right click it, select 'properties', and the 'driver' tab, you will see a button with 'driver file details' - this should list the files the video driver is using.

windows/system

but i dont think saving from here helps as im not sure theyll install, but thanks, i forgot that one!!

All the drivers (once they're installed) reside in c:\windows\system (the .dll's) and c:\windows\inf or c:\windows\inf\other (the .inf's obvoiusly).
You can try and weed them out of there, or backup the whole folder(s), which are too big for floppy, but could be done on zip or CDRW. Cheers,

I think if you find (and keep) the .inf file for the video drivers, it should ask you for the drivers as it goes.

I have about 30 machines with the same vid card, and just keep a set on a server and it works fine as long as you have the .inf file.

Although yours are all in Windows/system, it's not always the case. Mine has a subdirectory of system called colour, which has some of the vid files.

Alternatively, if you can identify your card, you might find it easier (before you trash the ones you have!) to download the whole set of drivers from Tucows or somewhere like that.
