hello everyone i do not have knowledge of nt, probably better with windows 2000. I am wondering how you repoint to a bdc when your pdc fails. Where is that done or does the bdc automatically kick in. also where do you go to synch your bdc with your pdc if you need an instant sync done. Along the same lines i guess how long does it take before you pdc sync's with you pdc. is this done say every 5 min. and where can that setting be changed. I know this is a loaded question but very important one. any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

u need to manully promo the BDC to PDC, that's it.
in NT era, BDC is read-copy only.

Go in the SERVER MANAGER in the Administrative Tools, click on Computer and you will see all the functions. Very simply, when pdc fail, simply go there on the bdc to promote it as a domain controller, otherwise, users cannot find a domain.
