Hello there. I looked through some of the posts on this general topic, but I was hoping for a bit more clarification.

I have 2 DLT autoloaders, running Veritas Backup Exec 8.5 on each server that the loader is connected to. The jobs are set to use one tape every day for 6 days on one server and one tape 5 days, then 2 tapes on the 6th day on the other server.

So now I picked up the cleaning tapes, one for each server and put them into the autoloader, slot 7. I set the properties for slot 7 on both servers to "cleaning slot". I then went to run the cleaning job on each server. I get the following information on each server:

=====================================================================
Job server: NY-DATA-1
Job name: Cleaning
Job started: Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 12:36:18 PM
Job type: Clean
Log file: BEX58.txt
======================================================================
Physical Volume Library Media not found.

======================================================================
Job ended: Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 12:45:02 PM
Job completion status: Failed
======================================================================

With different name for each server.

Any ideas on how I can set a manual cleaning job and get it to run?

Thanks.

Howard

Are you barcoding your tapes? If so, barcode the cleaning tapes.

Don't use the Cleaning Slot check box.

Load the cleaning tapes by importing them. Then run inventory on the slot. Veritas will figure out for itself that the tape is a cleaning tape.

Once the tape is identified as a cleaning tape, it can be used for cleaning.
