I've googled this topic and browsed php.net and have been unable to get an idea on when the prodution version of PHP 5 is scheduled to be released. Is there an approximate target date?

I understand that PHP 5 is now (as of June 8th) in a "release candidate 3" state.

Thanks!
Malcolm

I dont think that will be decided until candidate three has been deemd stable, or they find enough bugs to come out with a candidate 4.

Eric,

Thanks for the reply. I know its early, but release candidate 3 appears to be pretty stable - so far anyway.

Zend has had a target release of "late summer" for quite some time now. And in general, they're pretty good at releasing when they say they will.

Usually, a minor upgrade (4.2 -> 4.3) goes through 3 or 4 release candidate versions before a release version.

This is a major upgrade. I anticipate at least two more RC releases before production.

Sleipnir214,

Thank you. I'm a "recovering" ASP/ASP.NET developer, new to PHP and very excited by what I see. Anxious to start using PHP 5 in production so my code can match some of the OOP functionality I've enjoyed in ASP.NET.
