Hello all

I have a user who's having trouble...
She is using a link table to pull info off an AS/400 into an Access DB. She then needs to export that DB into Excel.
(we still use Office 97....heaven only knows why...)

We click (in Access) FILE--->SAVE AS/EXPORT....TO AN EXTERNAL FILE OR DB....then the "save file" dialog opens. Here lies the problem. In the "SAVE AS TYPE" drop down list, Excel does not show up as an option.

We have (repeatedly)installed the Data Access component needed to make this option available, however Excel still refuses to show up in the list. We have uninstalled & reinstalled Access...reinstalled Office...tried multiple things, to no avail. Any ideas? Many thanks!!

I know this is a old post, but hopefully, this helps.

You will encounter this issue if you have installed Office 97, then install SP3+ on an NT workstation. Service packs 3 and overwrites three files: mstext35.dll, msexcl35.dll and msxbse35.dll.

To fix this you simply rename these files and then re-install data access and it fixes this problem. It also fixes an access database error. The error is something to the effect of "ISAM is not installed".
