Can anyone explain to me why a second ms-access db becomes smaller in size, after importing everything from the first db?

First, it's possible to miss some things like import specifications and menus.

But more importantly, Access bloats mdb files quite a bit when you edit objects. Most of this bloat is recovered when you compact a database. But it's quite possible for the file to stay a little bloated even after a compact. Importing everything to a new database only grabs the live images of your objects, and not the junk that's still floating out there.
