I have a user who has a lot (100+) folders that he archives weekly. Letely he notices that when the archive is running he sees a new folder named "Personal Folders" in his folder list. Once the archive completes the folder goes away. Incidentally the new Personal Folders file doesn't show all the time, just when the archive file is ACTUALLY BEING WRITTEN to! I have verified that the auto archive is working properly and he is able to retreive information in the archive.pst file. Has anyone else seen this? I suspect that it is due to the number of folders that the guy has, but am unable to confirm.

I would think that is the archive folder that the Outlook is backing up to that is appearing during the process.

Or is the archive already displayed in the folder list?

This behavior occurs if the archiving program runs and .pst file that is being archived to is not open on the Outlook folder list.

Does the user have the .pst file open on his Outlook folder list? If he does not, have him add it by choosing "file", "open", "personal folder file" and then browse to the location of the archive file and double click on it. It will stay permanently on his Outlook folder list (instead of appearing and disappearing when the archive runs).

If he already has his archived .pst file open on his Outlook folder list and another .pst file is appearing when he archives, then it sounds to me like the user has one or more of his mailbox folders archiving to a location that is different than what his regular archive is. If that is the case, then he will need to search his hard drive for the other .pst file and open it in his Outlook as well.
