Hello all,
I manage a really small network (< 10 PCs) at my job, and we all share folders on the Win2K server.

I've built an administrative area of our website for the staff using PHP and MySQL, which is secure from the general public.

Is there any way using Win2K and HTML/PHP/FTP to allow users read/write access to their files from home through their browser? Is this even possible? Any tips on how to set this up?

Thanks,
Daniel

Daniel.

Have you thought about setting up a VPN and having your users dial in from home. They are then on the network and can proceed as normal. This would be a far better solution.

When you say "dial-in", are you literally referring to a modem? Most of my staff have broadband connections - can that be done?

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
I use GoToMyPC for this kind of thing quite a bit. ( offer a free thirty minute trial so you can evaluate it. Very secure and you don't have to mess with settings on your firewall. The app allows people to log onto their work pc's from home via their broadband connections and a web browser. It gives them access to there work pc desktops and they can run any apps installed on their work pc's and browse the internal LAN. I mainly use it to administer and remotely monitor my customers servers. There is a monthly charge associated with it. VNC might also be a free option for you but latency and security are issues.
