Can someone suggest the best way to reapply XP?
This pc has been used by many people here at work & much of the data has become corrupt. I'd rather format the drive and reapply new instead of add another partition as it appears XP will do.

How can I get to the command prompt at start up to format the drive?
Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Boot from the CD (you may have to enable this in the BIOS). When you get to the screen that asks which partition to install XP on, there is also a command to delete the partition; the partition will then be reformatted, and XP will install on it.

NOTE: MAKE SURE that you have all your DRIVERS handy, as well as jot down (if you don't know) the IP address, gateway, etc. etc. etc.

If you go into your bios by tapping the DEL key at bootup you can set the boot order. You want to boot from the CD rom first choice. Then Hard Drive HDD0 next. Then Floppy third. Also Boot other devices yes. Now put in the windows XP cd and and save the changes. At boot up you will see boot from CD start tapping the B key. Then it will say boot from CD stike a key. Tap the B key a couple of times. Do not REpair the instalation go to fresh copy. Some files will load. The it will check for previous installs. Go to the particion with the current copy and deleate the particion.
Next create a new partition about 10 gigs. That is 010000.
Format useing NTFS. You can create the rest of the particions in administrative tools in the control panel classic veiw latter. Use administraive tools , computer managmemnt , Disk management. Make sure to go to windows update right away and install all critical updates. Install a anti virus. I also like to install MS IE power twweks.
It lets you set the internet options , security , internet zone to high and trusted sites to low. Then you can add each web site to the trusted zone from the brouser by clicking tools and add to trusted zone. Good luck.
