If you have a later socket A board it may well take an XP upto the 2.1+ (palemino) but will almost definately need a bios flash to recognise this faster speed.

BIOS should give you some numbers when it boots, write them down. also look at the board, it will have information you can use to identify the board. (an FCC number can be looked up at the FCC site. Run diagnostic software that will give you info. Ask the company where you bought the computer.
