Hi All...can someone please tell me what IP address I should have listed in the "default gateway" and DNS settings of the NIC on my Windows 2000 server? We do not have internet access, so there is no router or firewall, just the server. Should I just leave them blank? Currently it is set to point to an ISDN modem that is no longer there (my previous post nightmare). Also, what should the setting be in DNS for router and default gateway?

I apologize for the idiotic questions, I am trying to administer a server with absolutely NOOOOO Windows 2000 training!

Thanks,
Dei

If you dont have a default gateway (which it sounds like you dont), leave it blank.

As for DNS, is the Windows 2000 Server running a DNS Service? You should probably point the DNS Settings to the IP address of your server if it is.

Thank you...yes, the server is running DNS. Currently, I have the default gateway set to the IP of the server. Is this going to cause a problem? In the DNS settings, should I make the router AND the default gateway the IP of the server?
Thanks,
dei
