What is VisualStudio.net... is this the same as Interdev?

Hi

I have been told in order to create and test / run asp.net pages I will need VisualStudio.net. However I only have VisualStudio Interdev (v6). Is this the same as VisualStudio.net?

I already have SQL Server and IIS etc. I am only in need of a suitable editor.

Can Macromedia Studio be used to create and develop .net pages?

Also what language do asp.net pages use... is it only C Sharp (I assume this is C#?) or is it VB?

You can use any of the .net languages --- C#, VB.NET, COBOL.NET, etc.

I would suggest looking at a tool like Visual Studio or if you want something that is free, the next best alternative is probably Web Matrix.

No it's not the same. Try using the Web Matrix like I suggested above (it's free) if you want to develop ASP.NET applications.

Thanks for your reply. I also have Macromedia Dreamweaver. Is this capable of developing ASP.net applications? Otherwise I will look for "Web Matrix" downloads.

You can use DreamWeaver to design the site but not to debug the actual ASP.NET code.
