I will try to make this answer as simple as possible.<br>SMS is used to 'get a handle' on your network.<br>On small networks (less than a few hundred pc) it is possible to manage the computers 'manually'. When it is time to update systems or take inventory, someone can visit each of the workstations. On larger networks, it is extremely difficult to manage this environment. (Imagine trying to update anti-virus files on 2,000 pcs.)
