what is runtime ?

a lot of you are talking about runtime, i have designed a complex payroll application, but i don't want the users to be able to mess around with: new record, new layout..etc

to keep things short, how can i create a stand-alone application from filemaker 6 pro ?

Using Filemaker Developer you can create a stand-alone, or runtime, version of your program.

when you create the stand-alone version, it puts the core FM files with your database so the user does not have to have Filemaker installed - simply speaking.

I do not have FM Developer. I am just constructing a DB in FileMaker 5. How can I get FM Runtime so that I give it to my client to use without his needing a copy of FM?

It's a feature of FM Developer - the only way to create the runtime is with Developer.
