It looks like I have a file system error.
What is "unattached inode 37138" ?
Is this a program ?
Where does it belong ? to /etc/fstab ?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

at what point and/or what are you doing when you get this error?
does it repeat?

I did not see your original post. Did you:

try "fsck -a"

??
after the filesystem is recovered, you may be able to find the node.

Hi arnOld:
Thank you for your answer.
Here i my problem:
My computer says:
- checking Root file system
- / contains a file system error
- unattached inode 37138

Then I gave my Root password, for maintenance:
then the screen said:
(Repair filesystem) 1 #

My question is: what is the right command I should use here ?

I tried to use fsck <Enter> and then the screen said:
Parallelizing fsck Version 1.18 (11-Nov.1999)
If I type "exit" the screen says:
can't create lock file /etc/mtab ~88 (or ~89) read-ouly file system
By the way, my computer has RH6, and I upgraded it to RH7.0

I am really at a loss of what to do, your help would be very much appreciated.
