thanks. Now I have found an Office 2000 on Ebay and was wondering if they are any good to purchase from ebay. It says Orig. copy etc and also says it is a Full version. I bidded but not sure If I will get it.
They have so many options on ebay like 2000 Prof. 2000 Small busisness 2000 ?? So I am not sure if I should get it on ebay
I have placed bids on eBay for what appeared to be legitimate copies of Office in the past & have subsequently been advised by eBay that they've closed the auctions down (I assume because they were pirate copies)
If you do decide to get Office 2003 (which has features I like, eg having the choice of formatting pasted text the same was as the place you are pasting it into, or the place you copied it from), the Student & Teacher edition is the cheapest & includes licences for 3 PCs
Personally I wouldn't go from 97 to 2000 now that XP is no longer the current version. If you really don't want 2003, then I think you would be better off going to Office XP as opposed to 2000. More stable wrt the annoying *.xlb file bloating issue that affected a lot of 2000 installations, and a lot closer to the current version so easier to upgrade next time round as well.
Ditto, I wouldn't probably go from XP to 2003 unless there was a real need, but jumping a version will give you much more in terms of stability/functionality etc.
Regards

If old software works OK, why not keep it? The big advantage I noticed going from Word 97 to Word 2002 was that it crashes a lot less. But for home use, I run Word 97 under Windows XP, and though it does crash about once a week, I've never actually lost anything or been delayed for long.
As Redcap says, 'second-hand' sales are plagued by piracy and best avoided.
