I have a Asus Cuv4x motherboard. This ACPI-bus thing is stealing irq´s from me. What is it and what is it good for?

What operating system are you using? It is my understanding that "ACPI" stands for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface technology, used in Win2000. It's purpose is to place PnP and Power Management under complete control of the operating system.
Hopes this helps a little.

I´ve got win98. I think this is a feature of the motherboard. Perhaps something that takes over the handling of irq´s cause I can´t change any irq of any device.

I thought that perhaps it had something to do with via 4i1 drivers ("irq routing port") but I´ve installed and uninstalled that several times.

I installed Windows ME last night and the irq I wanted was freed. I haven´t looked in device manager to see if acpi-bus is there or not, but I will as soon as I get home.
