I am only fairly new to making webpages, but I have a link on the site to download a file. Problem is, when I click on the link, it shows the ftp folder.

How do u get the save file as dialog to pop up when clicking on the link?

Thanks

Steve

Possibly you have missed off the filename from the link

The filename is on there,

I have web address/filename.zip

If I change the filename to an image, it will open in a new browser, but the file is a zip file and it opens winzip when clicked.

I can right hand click on it and do a file save as and it works fine.

This is changed in Windows Explorer,

Open Explorer, then on the menu bar Tools|Folder Options File Types tab
find ZIP files in Registered file types, Click the Advanced button and check the 'Confirm open after download' box. This should then prompt you with the Save\Open dialog.
(Win2k, XP and if I remember correctly Win98)

It was already setup like the way you said.

It in not that important as I can just have a note on the page to right hand click it.

Thanks anyway

post the link here,
Point it to a dummy zip file first if you don't want to have the original contents available.

You wont believe this...as per every problem where you want to show what is wrong, it works fine.

Well, I'm lost, I dont know why is wasn't working before but it is now.

Thanks for your persistance with me.

Steve.

The problem is called Windows!
