Hello,
I have a query about Netbackup and would be grateful for any and all advice/feedback that you might have.
Our situation is that we have recently migrated our backup system from Arcserve (tape based) to Netbackup (Server based).
Most of the time things work out OK, but occasionally odd things happen which almost negates the benefits of having Netbackup instead of Arcserve.
The most recent incident was that we requested a restore of a specific folder from Netbackup from the 31st Oct 2006. This action was performed, but we also ended up getting another set of files restored with a date of 17th Oct 2006 - unfortunately this overwrote the production files and we had to do further restores and re-keys.
Unfortunately no-one seems to know how that could have happened (the logs don't show anything) but we did see a number of .NBU files lying around with a date/time stamp of 17th Oct 2006 and are not sure why they are there are what they refer to.
I guess what I'm asking is:
1) Does anyone know what .NBU files do?
2) Has anyone ever experienced something like that before?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
