There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<stanthony02.staoptw.org #5.5.0 smtp;550 Relaying denied to aol.com>

This is from a user of mine. Is this an aol thing or on my end? she got about 10 of these returned to her from her Distribution List.

why blocked? how to I figure it out, do I have to call aol?

Dan Crandell

I say blocked because every time i see a 550 error from one of our companies to another firm that normally was it is..

Tony.bigwood@coin.com
Delivery failed
550 Relaying is prohibited

Have you tried sending to the address from yourself, or even a hotmail account. Are u sure that the @aol address is not being blocked by ur firm. This way you can determine whether the user in ur firm trying to send it just blocked or if your domain is blocked.

I can send them individually with no problems. I administrate the exchange server here at my work. It is small company, but seems to be having alot of email issues lately.

Email the error to postmaster@aol.com they can confirm, why your getting the message they are pretty good. There are quite a few firms you can use to check to see if you are being blocked by anyone,

where u can look up ur ip to see if you are blocked.. Most companies see to be using this software at the moment. You can post message to people telling them how to get removed from you databases and so forth..

also try spam lookup...

looked them up none blocked off of those sites. Sent email out aol though. thanks for that. My user says that she can send this exact email Distribution list from home with no problems it is when she comes here to work that it will not work?

On distribution lists is there best practices for exchange server, lets say they have 50 names on the list, should those be created within the server or should they be used on the users local distribution list.
